Frequently Asked

Glasses Chain Guide

Are glasses chains still in style?

Yes — glasses chains have been trending upward since 2022 and remain a strong fashion category in 2026. The modern glasses chain is designed as jewelry first, not a medical accessory — it's meant to be seen, with or without glasses attached.

What's the difference between a glasses chain and a glasses cord?

A glasses chain uses linked segments (acetate, crystal, or metal) and functions as visible jewelry that also holds your glasses. A glasses cord is typically a textile or neoprene strap designed primarily for sports or active use — it prioritizes grip and security over aesthetics. Chains are worn for style; cords are worn for function.

How long should a glasses chain be?

The standard length is 72cm (28 inches), which positions glasses at mid-chest — easily reachable, visually balanced, and long enough to wear as a standalone necklace. Shorter chains (50–60cm) keep glasses near the collarbone for a more secure fit. Longer chains (80cm+) create a lower, more dramatic drape for necklace-first styling.

What material is best for a glasses chain?

It depends on your priorities. Cellulose acetate offers the most jewelry-like look with a warm, polished finish. Seed beads provide the widest color range and most fluid movement. Natural crystal is one-of-a-kind and has the most organic presence. Textile cord is the lightest and most understated. All four are hypoallergenic and suitable for all-day wear when made well.

Do glasses chains damage frames?

No. Quality glasses chains use medical-grade silicone temple tips that grip without scratching or leaving residue. The weight of a well-balanced chain (25–40g) is negligible — it should never pull or stress your frames. Avoid chains with metal-on-metal temple connections, which can scratch acetate or metal frames over time.

Can I wear a glasses chain as a necklace only?

Yes. Every VÉSU ATELIER chain is designed to be worn without glasses as a standalone necklace. Simply remove the silicone temple loops from the lobster clasps (they detach in seconds), and the chain becomes a necklace. Many of our customers wear their chain as a necklace 80% of the time and only attach glasses when needed.

Which style is right for me?

A quick guide: choose CLASSIC if you want the most jewelry-like look — tortoiseshell acetate goes with everything. Choose ALBA if you prefer color and movement — seed beads are the most playful and come in the widest range. Choose GAIA if you want something one-of-a-kind — each natural crystal stone is unique. Choose LOU if you prefer minimal and understated — the cord-and-acetate combination is the lightest and most discreet. When in doubt, CLASSIC or LOU are the safest starting points.

Products & Materials

What is cellulose acetate, exactly?

Cellulose acetate is a plant-based material derived from wood pulp and cotton fibers — not a synthetic plastic. We choose it for its depth of color, natural warmth against the skin, and hypoallergenic properties. Each piece features a smooth, jewel-like finish that catches light differently at every angle.

Are the stones in the Gaia collection real?

Yes. Every stone in the Gaia collection is a genuine raw crystal, sourced directly from the earth. No two are identical — variations in shape, size, and color are not imperfections but signatures of their natural origin. That's the point.

Will it fit my glasses frames?

Yes — our chains are compatible with 99% of frames. Each chain includes two adjustable silicone temple tips that slide onto the temple arm (the part that goes over your ear). They work with standard adult frames in plastic, metal, or mixed materials. The only exception is very thin wire frames under 2mm — contact us and we'll advise before you order.

How does the 3-in-1 design actually work?

Each VÉSU chain is built around modular gold-toned connectors. Attach the included silicone loops to your eyewear and wear it as a glasses chain. Remove the loops and clip it directly as a necklace. Or secure it to your phone case for a hands-free lanyard. One piece, three rhythms — no tools, no fuss.

Shipping & Orders

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All transactions are processed securely through Shopify Payments. Your card details are never stored on our servers.

Will I be charged customs or import duties?

Orders to the United States are shipped duty-free. For international orders outside the US, customs duties and import taxes may apply depending on your country's regulations — these are outside our control and are the responsibility of the recipient. Most orders under $50 pass through customs without additional charges, but we cannot guarantee this. If you have concerns about duties for your specific country, we recommend checking with your local customs authority before ordering.

Is shipping really free?

Yes. We offer complimentary standard shipping on all orders, worldwide. No minimums, no hidden fees at checkout. The price you see is the price you pay.

When will my order arrive?

Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Once dispatched, standard shipping typically takes 7–15 business days to the US, and 7–15 business days for most international destinations. A tracking number will reach your inbox as soon as your order ships.

Returns & Care

What if it isn't quite right for me?

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Pieces should be in their original, unworn condition with all packaging intact. To start a return, email us at contact@vesuatelier.com with your order number — our concierge team will guide you through the rest.

How long will my VÉSU piece last?

With normal daily use and basic care, our chains are built to last 2–3 years or more. The acetate and crystal components are highly durable. The gold-toned hardware uses a PVD coating that resists tarnishing better than standard plating. The silicone temple tips are replaceable — contact us if they wear out and we'll send new ones at no charge.

How do I care for my VÉSU piece?

Keep it simple. Avoid direct contact with heavy perfumes, hairsprays, or harsh chemicals. After wear, a quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth is all you need to maintain its luster. Store it in its pouch when not in use, and it will stay beautiful for years.
